Description of Pimentel W-1
Our W-1 Is built with American Walnut for the back and sides with either a Spruce or Western Red cedar top, Honduras Mahogany neck , East Indain Rosewood Binding , fingerboard and Bridge. Our Company is one of the pioneers in using Black Walnut for guitars. The tonal and projective characteristics of the Walnut for the back and sides of guitars is in between the Mahogany and the Rosewoods somewhat dark in tone but not as dark as the Rosewoods...
About the Wood
Although American Black Walnut it is found on a variety of sites, it grows best on good sites in coves and well-drained bottoms in the Appalachians and the Midwest. Uglans nigra, commonly known as Black Walnut or American walnut, although it is found on a variety of sites, black walnut grows best on good sites in coves and well-drained bottoms in the Appalachians and the Midwests a tree species native to eastern North America. It grows mostly alongside rivers, from southern Ontario, Canada, west to southeast South Dakota, south to Georgia, northern Florida and southwest to central Texas.
The Black Walnut is a deciduous tree attaining heights of 30–40 meters(100–130 feet) and was introduced into Europe in 1629. It is cultivated there as a forest tree for its high quality wood. It is more resistant to frost than the Persian Walnut, but thrives best in the warmer regions of Europe of fertile, lowland soils with a high water table. It is a light-demanding species. |
